When planning a Walt Disney World vacation you will see many options for staying on property and the obvious benefits to staying on site vs off site. What you may not realize are the added benefits and value of staying at one of the Deluxe resorts vs Value and Moderate.
The Deluxe resorts offer amazing theming that appeals to both Disney and non-Disney fans which may feel like two vacations in one. You can feel like you have escaped to the tropics at the Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, step into the heart of Africa and feel like you are on your own African safari while staying at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, or Escape to the rustic majesty of America’s Great Northwest, inspired by turn-of-the-century National Park lodges at Disney's Wilderness Lodge.
Staying at a Deluxe offers quick access to the parks, with the exception of Animal Kingdom Lodge. These resorts also offer more transportation options which means you'll be a quick boat or monorail ride away from EPCOT or Magic Kingdom. You can even walk from some resorts!
Deluxe resorts tend to have larger rooms with sleeper sofas or pull out beds allowing for more guests to stay in a room without the need to reserve two rooms for your family.
Most families need a break from the parks their stay and relaxing at the pool is a prefect way to do that! My top pick for the best pool on property is Stormalong Bay at the Beach Club Resort. Catch currents in an expansive sand-bottomed pool. From atop the mast of a life-sized shipwreck replica, zip down a 230-foot-long waterslide, one of the highest hotel slides at Walt Disney World Resort. Float down the lazy river on an inner tube, unwind in one of 3 whirlpool spas or simply relax on the elevated tanning deck.
Let's talk everyone's favorite thing, FOOD! The Deluxe resorts offer more dining options than there counterparts. You're family will find quick service options in addition to multiple table service restaurants. A popular option is Boma located in Animal Kingdom Lodge. This buffet allows guests to sample African dishes in addition to traditional American favorites. Ohana at The Polynesian Resort is a fan favorite offers an all-you-can-eat feast of grilled meats, Hawaiian specialty sides, and the signature ‘Ohana Bread Pudding for dessert and if you time your meal right, you can enjoy the Magic Kingdom fireworks. Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa features Victoria and Albert's, winner of the prestigious AAA Five Diamond Award every year since 2000 and the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Award. It is the premiere restaurant at Walt Disney World Resort and perfect for a date night while on vacation!
Finally, only guests staying at Deluxe resorts are able to take advantage of Extended Evening Theme Park Hours! This is in addition to the Early Theme Park Entry offered to all resorts guests. Extended Evening Hours are available at Magic Kingdom on Wednesdays from 11-1 and EPCOT on Mondays from 9-11. Guests using these hours at EPCOT also have the added benefit of an additional request to join the virtual queue for Guardians of the Galaxy-Cosmic Rewind at 6pm.
Still having trouble deciding on which resort is the best option for your trip? I would love to help you!!!!
